• • • Exclusive: ‘Atlas Shrugged’ Producer Predicts Sequel Soars Higher Thanks to ‘2016,’ Ryan as VP Candi
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  |Paul Ryan  |Image  |Video  | The “Atlas Shrugged” films were designed to celebrate Ayn Rand’s core political philosophies, says franchise producer Harmon Kaslow. What Kaslow couldn’t foresee as the second film in the franchise nears its release date is the GOP nominating Rand enthusiast Paul Ryan for its Vice Presidential slot and an anti-Obama documentary shattering box office records.

• • • Trailer Talk: ‘Atlas Shrugged: Part II’ Serves Up Red Meat for the Right
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  |Image  |Video  | The second installment in the “Atlas Shrugged” film franchise looks ... different. Yes, “Atlas Shrugged: Part II” features new actors playing Dagny Taggart and the rest of Ayn Rand’s cast of characters. The other changes are more profound, and positive, particularly for a franchise attacked by nearly all major film critics who chafed at its unabashedly right-leaning elements.

• • Fall Movie Preview: Patriotism, Sucker Punches and a Dose of Ayn Rand
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  |Capitalism  | "Atlas Shrugged: Part II" (Oct. 12) - Critics roasted the first installment, but a new cast and fresh sense of dedication will fuel the second part of Ayn Rand's hugely popular saga. Will the box office triumph of "2016: Obama's America" help goose interest in "Part II?" If not, the release's proximity to Election Day will surely help, even if most mainstream media outlets are likely to ignore it as much as possible.

‘Runaway Slave’s’ CL Bryant Pulls No Punches Decrying Modern Political Plantation
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  | [Rev. C.L.] Bryant suggests some film studios wouldn’t mind scooping up the distribution rights to “Runaway Slave” and letting it languish on the proverbial shelf. “There is an element of this country that doesn’t want this particular message to be heard,” he says, refusing to name any names but comparing his film’s situation to that of the long-delayed conservative feature “Atlas Shrugged.” “They will actually offer you money for it so they can put it on the shelf so it won’t be heard.”

How New Documentary Rules Might Smite the Right
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Personal life  | The organization that puts on the Academy Awards has created a new rule aimed at narrowing awards eligibility next year to documentary films that are reviewed in The New York Times or the Los Angeles Times, according to sources in the group. That doesn’t sound horrible at first blush. Both papers offer extensive coverage of documentary features. But often right-of-center films fall through the newspapers’ cracks. [....] The New York Times dragged its feet before reviewing Atlas Shrugged.

Audiences Share Some Blame in Hollywood’s Decline
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  | We don’t support the films which need our help: Too often conservatives fail to line up for right-of-center films like “Atlas Shrugged” when a strong showing could change the economic realities in Hollywood.

,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  |Image  | Kaslow admits the team behind ‘Atlas Shrugged: Part 1’ sent plenty of mixed messages about the future of the franchise. Now, they’ve agreed to start working on ‘Part 2’ early in the new year. But the faces from the next ‘Shrugged’ may be unfamiliar to fans of the original.

,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  | “Atlas Shrugged Part 1,” the long-awaited film version of Ayn Rand’s beloved novel, made just $4.6 million earlier this year, putting plans for a second and third installment in jeopardy.

• • ‘Shrugged’ set to expand soon
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  | The market place has spoken … and the film version of Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” will soon be playing at a theater near most of you. “Atlas Shrugged” opened over the weekend on a relatively small number of screens – 299 to be exact – but ended up with the third highest box office per-screen average of any release behind “Scream 4″ and “Rio.”

• • • Movie review: ‘Atlas Shrugged’
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  |Capitalism  |Image  | Devotees of author Ayn Rand finally get to hear the question, “Who is John Galt?” at their local movieplex. That fact alone should be considered a milestone of sorts. The film adaptation of Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” has been in the works for decades, and injecting Rand’s free market ideology into today’s left-leaning film industry is a heady achievement. How often will you see corporate types as the heroes, not the hiss-inducing villains? The bigger question is if fans of Rand’s 1957 novel will tolerate a deeply flawed screen adaptation, the first of a proposed trilogy meant to capture the book’s voluminous length.

• • • Tea Partiers and critics anticipate ‘Atlas Shrugged’ release
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  |Individual Rights  |Image  | The nascent Tea Party movement already proved it could impact elections as well as the national debate on issues like the debt. But can it turn an independent film with a modest budget, no A-list stars and a rather wonky trailer into a box office threat? “Atlas Shrugged,“ the cinematic retelling of Ayn Rand’s 1957 novel about a plucky railroad executive battling regulations gone wild, hits just under 300 movie screens starting April 15.
