,
Atlas Shrugged  | CALLER:  Rush, if I wrote a book about all the fraud, the waste, the abuse, the lies, everything, I could fill Atlas Shrugged.

• • • Atlas is Starting to Shrug
,
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  |Image  | Transcript.
RUSH: There’s a book called Atlas Shrugged. It’s a long book. Have you heard of it? CALLER: Yes. RUSH: It’s by Ayn Rand, and it’s about this very thing. It’s about the producers throwing up their hands in frustration and just saying, “To heck with it. I’m not doing this anymore. I am not gonna pay these exorbitant tax rates. I’m not gonna be one of the few in this country productive and everybody feeds off me,” and they just quit. It is a very, very long book. A movie was made of it within the past year, which, by the way, I’m sure you could rent that DVD somewhere. CALLER: Okay. RUSH: I have seen the movie. It’s okay. It will entertain you. It’ll make the point. Reading the book is a commitment because it’s very long. The thing is, this is starting to happen.

• • Coal Mine Owner Goes John Galt
,
Atlas Shrugged  |Image  | We’ve got an Atlas Shrugged guy out there, got this off of Beck’s website, The Blaze. [....] There’s a guy [in Birmingham, Alabama], Ronnie Bryant, who is a mine owner. He wants to open and dig and drill more mines. He’s got business plans that would employ 125 to 150 people. They would make from 50 to $150,000 a year, and the environmentalists are trying to stop him from doing it, a bunch of leftists. And he’s decided just to quit. “You know what, I’ve had it.” He’s doing a John Galt and walking away. “I’m not putting up with this anymore.”

 The Truth About Medicare
,
Atlas Shrugged  |Audio  | The whole Medicare-Medicaid system is a joke now. It’s not solvent. It is not healthy. But to sit here and say, okay, let’s just do an Atlas Shrugged on it, if you mean it in the same way, let’s let the Democrats win the election, let’s let the American people find out how bad it is with Democrats. I’m sorry, they’re finding out. But no, we’ve rallied around this fix. You can’t just abandon it after doing that.

Who the hell are these people to decide the limits of our freedom?
,
Audio  | A lot of you have read books by Ayn Rand, some of you pronounce it Ayn Rand, I don’t care. She asked a question once on compromise, “Where do you compromise between food and poison?” That’s a little better than saying where do you compromise between good and evil because evil sometimes differs from person to person, but poison is poison. So where do you compromise with food and poison? “Oh, yeah, okay, you think I should eat arsenic but I don’t want that much, just give me a little arsenic, because some global warming scientist said I could tolerate a little bit of it. But any more than that, and my death might cause the planet to warm.” So where is this? You got a boot on your neck, where do you compromise with it? “Move the boot to my shoulder, please.” (interruption) Did he just say this? I’m being told here that Obama just said, “I reject the idea my policies have taken the country in reverse.”

 The Limbaugh Rule revisited
,
Audio  | William Buckley, as the godfather of conservatism, when somebody new showed up he welcomed them in. The movement was the movement. He was all happy to have them there and promoted them if they were worthwhile. And, by the way, if they weren’t, he dissed ‘em. He got rid of the Birchers. He wasn’t particularly fond of Ayn Rand. But for the most part Buckley didn’t pretend other conservatives didn’t exist.

 Soros, Schumer, and shorting
,
Capitalism  | CALLER: If you look at the other people that bought [IndyMac], one guy had 17 years at Goldman Sachs and went out and started his own management fund and the other one had 20 years at Goldman Sachs. The problem is these people to me -- I'm an Ayn Rand capitalist -- aren't producing something. But I still think Wall Street they provide a real service. It's a marketplace.

• • The smallest minority on earth
,
Capitalism  |Egoism  | Transcript and audio.
When you vote for politicians who take from your back pocket to give to others, you think it's compassionate, you think it's caring? It's not. It's depriving the recipient of his own quest for self-interest. The brilliant writer and novelist, Ayn Rand, has written about this. Let me give you a couple quotes from Ayn Rand on this.

• • John Galt speaks in resignation letter to AIG
,
Atlas Shrugged  |Capitalism  | There's a great letter published as an op-ed today in the New York Times by an AIG employee. He's quitting. He was earning one buck, just like the CEO, he was promised one of these retention bonuses, but he's not putting up with it anymore. You could say that John Galt has spoken at AIG.

Obama will drive out our ABBAs
,
Atlas Shrugged  |Capitalism  | Radio show transcript.
Once they raise taxes on everybody and they started doing an Atlas Shrugged in Sweden, how long did it take before the people who were remaining to pay tax in Sweden realized they got screwed?

• • Ayn Rand on how statists strangle capitalism
,
Ayn Rand Institute  |Capitalism  | I want to read something to you that Ayn Rand (or "Ann" Rand, however you wish to pronounce it) wrote in 1975. "[O]ne of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making [the industry] unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary." Is that not exactly what is happening to, say, Wall Street?

• • Thursday quotes: A lovable little fuzzball
,
Atlas Shrugged  | It's Atlas Shrugged: the people who are making this country work are the targets, and the people who are the losers and slackers are the beneficiaries.

• • An Ayn Rand sequel: Atlas Puked
,
Atlas Shrugged  | Radio show transcript.
People who warned about the dangers of unfettered bailouts, people who have no idea of the consequences of wholesale subprime mortgages, had no idea what it would lead to, and people who voted for bailouts have no idea what that's leading to! Ayn Rand, she wrote "Atlas Shrugged." The sequel: "Atlas Puked." We're in the middle of it.

• • Obama Plans to implement FDR’s socialist “Second Bill of Rights”
,
Atlas Shrugged  |Audio  | Radio show audio and transcript.
The federal government has gotta bail out that bank. The federal government has gotta bail out this business. The federal government has gotta give money to airlines so they can merge, what you have you -- all the while demonizing the John Galts of the world. Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand.

• • When do we get to riot?
,
Atlas Shrugged  |Capitalism  | Radio show transcript.
When do we riot? When do we stand up and say, “We have paid for all of this; we have played by the rules, and now you come to us and you tell us that the whole reason this [financial crisis] happened is because we are unfair and we are too advantaged and we are too lucky, that it's not right that not everybody can win life's lottery?” [....] [I]t's a variation on the theme of Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. After awhile John Galt said, “Screw it, I'm checking out. I'm through supporting everybody else, not my job, not my responsibility, not when they're not trying to help themselves.” Atlas Shrugged.

We can’t afford four years of Obama
,
Atlas Shrugged  | Radio show transcript.
[Caller]: Yes, I just wanted to tell you I've been listening to you since I was a junior in high school back in 1992. RUSH: A Rush Baby. CALLER: Ohhhh, yeah. So thank you very much, and you actually introduced me to one of my most influential books, too: Atlas Shrugged.

• •Atlas Shrugged in Atlanta suburbs
,
Radio show transcript.
[Limbaugh:] "Residents of North Fulton," the white Republican area, "represent 29% of the county's population of 950,000. They pay 42% of property taxes." Atlas Shrugged, anyone? Atlas Shrugged? They are 29% of the population; they're paying 42% of the property taxes.

• • •Read Atlas Shrugged, again
,
Radio show transcript.
How many of you have read the book Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand? I read the book and The Fountainhead, a number of them. Atlas Shrugged for those of you who haven't read it, I'll give you the basic book report summary. It is basically about the achievers of life quitting, because they're tired of being 1% of the population pulling the other 99% in the cart.
