Bay Area rapper Kool AD shares his views on Occupy Oakland
Matt Werner, Oakland Local
[Q:] How did attending Arthur Andersen in Alameda, California (a school known for its art, music and digital video programs) influence your art today? [Kool A.D. (Victor Vazquez):] Arthur Andersen was a flawed, but relatively useful educational experiment. I liked flexible hours and small class sizes, but it wasn’t really integrated into the rest of Encinal High School and had a creepy Ayn Randian elitist vibe to it. Plus the leadership classes were taught by consultants from an accounting firm that was found guilty of one of the biggest white collar criminal scandals in our nation’s history, which is a pretty bad look.
