Ayn Rand may have never been a fan of Keynesian economics, nor is Ryan, but let’s not allow facts to get in the way of a good duel. You need only look across the Atlantic to see the value of austerity programs when an economy is trying to recover. Europeans are struggling with another recession. It is obvious. When consumers and businesses stop spending, the government needs to spend to form a bridge to when spending resumes in the private sector. It is basic Economics 101. It is obviously true.
