Henderson & Kaffer: Looking for lemonade in a sour deal for Belle Isle
Stephen Henderson and Nancy Kaffer, Detroit Free Press
Capitalism |
Stephen: So I have an unprintable emotional response (starts with an "f", ends with a "no") to the idea of selling Belle Isle to a bunch of conservative suburban interests who want to turn it into a free-for-all capitalist apotheosis of the thinking of Ayn Rand, the patron saint of little boys who never learned to share. It’s ridiculous and insulting, the idea that Detroit’s financial problems should be solved through an exchange of its natural and social assets for money.
