Crye, El Paso Times (TX) Atheism  |Egoism  |Paul Ryan  | A recent letter writer’s mischaracterization of Ayn Rand and Objectivism is typical of those who have never understood the thousands of pages she wrote detailing her philosophy. Rand was staunchly anti-communist and pro-American. She and all Objectivists support voluntary charity and kindness toward those who are deserving, but oppose forms of governmentally coerced transfer of private property, regarding that as a form of theft. Primary Objectivist values include reason, purpose, self-esteem, and integrity; corresponding virtues are rationality, productivity, pride, and honesty.   Published: 2012-09-06
