Bloomberg claims that John Allison, the former chairman of BB&T, a bank holding company, succeeded in influencing many universities’ curricula in return for large donations. At least 60 schools, it is claimed, agreed to create a course which had "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand—which promotes laissez-faire economics and is Mr Allison’s favourite book—at its heart.
