The Sun debate: A step too far?
Jack Staples-Butler, The Yorker (U of York)
Capitalism |
There would either be reasonable debate [over removal of The Sun newspaper], a slapstick brawl, or a median of both between two clusters of stereotypes; the clenched-fisted campus Marxists, feminists and everyone who could predictably hate The Sun and the blue-suited Tories and Randist libertarians whose favourite pairing of words are ‘free’ and ‘market’. There were points to be had on both sides about the limits on what should and should not be published and the authority of student government to intervene in the sales of controversial publications and products.
