Rand’s vision of economics would have us turn the entire planet over to capitalist princelings as their playground. Some might use the opportunity wisely and become spectacular successes. Others might crash and burn just as spectacularly, bringing down whole nations or ecosystems with them. From the perspective of Rand’s ethical framework, this is simply the cost of doing business. Too bad for them. Thumb’s down, they fail. The collateral damage of, for example, runaway climate change on the environment and billions of people on the planet, doesn’t enter into such calculations.
