Atheism  |Atlas Shrugged  | Do the two most influential books in modern culture, the Bible and Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, share common ground? In his new book, The Soul of Atlas (Reason Publishing), author Mark David Henderson examines the underlying principles of Christianity and Objectivism, challenging readers to approach the seemingly contradictory world views with a fresh perspective and an open mind.

• • • Random Access Theatre Presents Ayn Rand’s ANTHEM, Opening 2/20 

Anthem  | Adapted from Ayn Rand's dystopian novella of the same name, Random Access Theatre presents Anthem at the Abingdon Theater in New York City. Under the direction of Jennifer Sandella, five actors embody a nightmare of complicit collectivism where individual identity is a death sentence. However as two inhabitants of the soulless city fall in love, they will have to risk their lives to stay together.

[O’Regan] winds up by reading from his erotic - and disturbingly Ayn Rand-esque - novel of arrogant seduction and property development, throwing in some (deliberate) schoolboy humour at the end.  

• Four Humors Theater Presents THE FIRSTY THURSDAY SHOW, 7/7 

The Firsty Thursday Show is a monthly cabaret/variety show on the first Thursday of every month curated by Four Humors Theater. Each show features different characters, sketches, and special guests, ensuring a completely unique experience each month. This month’s show features a collection of 2011 Minnesota Fringe Festival artists presenting a preview of their upcoming works; Camelot is Crumbling: An Arthurian Nightmare by Maximum Verbosity, Ayn Rand was Right! by Joan Calof Company, History Camp by Zombie High School, [....] as well as special appearances by Mille and Tillie Silly and Hercules the Southern Dandy Chef.  

• • Beef & Boards’ Jack Milo stars in Atlas Shrugged 

Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  | While Milo will be in Indianapolis on stage in Annie Get Your Gun, he will also be on screen across the country with the April 15 release of “Atlas Shrugged - Part 1.” The film, based on the 1957 novel by Ayn Rand, is about a female railroad tycoon who is struggling to be successful in spite of a crumbling society. Milo plays the part of Richard McNamara. “It’s an introductory role,” he said. “My character becomes the chief ally of John Galt, who is the protagonist. “If it plays well, they’re going to shoot (parts) two and three.” The film, one of five in which he has appeared, is directed by Paul Johansson, a former acting student of Milo’s.

Ayn Rand Institute  |Atlas Shrugged  |Night of January 16th  |The Fountainhead  |Personal life  | Idealwas written in 1934, during a time of great professional turmoil in Rand’s life. At the time, her novel We the Living was rejected by a succession of publishers for being “too intellectual” and too opposed to Soviet Russia; her play Night of January 16th had not yet found a producer; and Miss Rand’s meager savings were running out. Ideal was written originally as a novelette and then extensively revised and turned into a stage play.

[....] A variety of men in sharp suits and a lone female (another journalist - this crisis is very much man-made in every sense of the word, despite Ayn Rand's inspirational texts) march on and off stage and have their say on where it all went wrong.
