As conservative a man as you will find anywhere and at any time, General Sherman provides us with the perfect refutation of reactionary conservatism, tea party-ism, self-centered greed, Ayn Rand objectivism, secessionism, Beck-ism, Limbaugh loonies, and the crap spewed by the Joe Goebbels School of Journalism.

Atlas Shrugged  | Ten to twelve years lead-time, and no dam construction at Mahoney Lake is necessary? Who is John Galt? Mahoney Lake is five/six miles from the city power station; closer to Swan/Tyee transmission lines, and it would’ve been well on its way to completion if certain special interests hadn’t interfered by dragging their collective feet.

Paul Ryan  |Inaccurate  | Congressman Paul Ryan wants to destroy the safety net completely, on the essential premise of Ayn Rand’s philosophy that those in need should perish out of hand as an inconvenience to the rest of us. “Let parasites perish as they should.”

Alan Greenspan  |Altruism  |Anthem  |Atlas Shrugged  |The Fountainhead  |Capitalism  |Egoism  |Individualism  |Personal life  |Inaccurate  | I am curious, Congressman Ryan, are your Congressional office walls adorned with glossy photographs of serial killers; Dahmer, Gacy, Bundy, and others? A far more reasonable question than I know you are prepared to admit, but as an obsessed follower of Ayn Rand, surely you must be cognitive of the fact that serial killers were among those super humans of the ego and the id that she totemically admired so consistently. You require all members of your staff to be fully indoctrinated in the rather bizarre and insipid writings of Ayn Rand, thus one must assume you expect them to conduct themselves like true acolytes of this cult, and each has one lit cigarette in the mouth, one in each hand, and two still burning in the ash tray.

Capitalism  | Ayn Rand and Friedrich Hayek are honest to God heroes who saw the choice and made it. Capitalism is a practical economic system and parasites, rich and poor, will take advantage of any system... and blaming the system for bad behavior is ignorant, at worst, dumb.

 SAY WHAT?
,
Perspective is handy in understanding folks with a hatred of all things government. [....] I still believe in leadership by example, so when these folks with megaphones forfeit their government retirement checks, their social security, their PERS, and their medicare, just to start with, then I will actually think they are serious about what they spout off. We will prove once and for all, as we watch them starve, whether these brave followers of Ayn Rand and Robert Nozicky have a clue about what in fact they are talking about.

Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal  |Capitalism  | My hat’s off to you, Joe, best of luck; enough honest effort will bring this once great ship of state back into safe waters. Only hope you can be strong in the face of bribery [aka compromise and arbitrary justice]. These seem to be the primary tools in Washington. Best advice -- buy a copy of Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal, by Ayn Rand, read it again, or better, get the Audible read by Anna Fields... refresh that keen memory as to what we are.
