• • The 'it can't happen here' syndrome
[T]he situation in Cyprus is potentially international in scope. North Korea is doing some serious saber-rattling. America’s debt is so out of control that an economic crash is a statistical certainty. Sweeping anti-gun legislation is being enacted in various states even as we speak. As Ayn Rand so memorably put it, “You can ignore reality, but you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.”

 Secrets of the Cyprus heist
Atlas Shrugged  | In the days of wooden ships and iron men, colonial empires pillaged entire populations. [....] Things are not so different today. Powerful governments seize and confiscate assets, sometimes justly or “legally,” sometimes not. At sea, still, owners select men like me to analyze a host of variables and carefully select the flags and attendant legal and financial structures that will best protect their vessels and other assets. The stakes are high. The company is good. It is nice to know John Galt.

• • We Owe Illegals An Apology?
Atlas Shrugged  |Harry Binswanger  | You ever read something so stupid, you weren’t immediately sure if it was supposed to be hyperbole? Harry Binswanger, an acolyte of Ayn Rand and Objectivism, just published what amounts to the most asinine column in the history of columns – published at Forbes.com, it’s titled, “Amnesty For Illegal Immigrants Is Not Enough, They Deserve An Apology.”

• • The end of America: Why Romney lost
Individual Rights  | The United States of America was created as an independent nation whose founding ideal was the principle of individual rights. Freedom. Ayn Rand said that “freedom, in a political context, means freedom from government coercion.” America was the first moral government based on individual rights, the nation of the Enlightenment.

Altruism  |Atlas Shrugged  |The Fountainhead  |Capitalism  |Egoism  |Individualism  |Leonard Peikoff  |Personal life  | We were told it was going to happen. We were told it was happening. We ignored these warnings because they came from a little old lady with a funny accent and a peculiar personal life. Her name was Ayn Rand.

• • God has a bigger plan!
Atlas Shrugged  | Americans of faith and those who believe in capitalism and hard work as the means to achieve, not “Atlas Shrugged”-portrayed government handouts, have now seen their country taken over largely by uneducated and lazy morons, goons and thugs who want to dismantle all our Founding Fathers conceived of and fought for.

• • • We the People are the force!
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  | Written in 1957 by Ayn Rand, “Atlas Shrugged,” which was again put to the silver screen recently, is relevant even more in today’s world than many decades ago. Published during a period when socialism and communism were on the march in Europe, the Soviet Union and China, Rand foresaw government taking over in our nation as well, removing from our lives the incentive to produce and prosper freely, and instead sharing and redistributing wealth.

• • • Return To Reason
Capitalism  |Individualism  |Paul Ryan  | Paul Ryan has come under coruscating attack in the progressive press for admitting that Rand’s peerless defense of the morality of laissez-faire capitalism influenced him. Despised by the left, reviled by many on the right, Ayn Rand would have appreciated the picture-perfect aesthetic of the Republican duo, if not its policies and political philosophy.

Would Schwarzenegger be eligible for Oval Office?
A long-running court case that originated when Barack Obama assumed the powers of the presidency is being forwarded to the U.S. Supreme Court, with a request that the justices finally take action on the dispute – or else “there remains a question as to whether absurd results may occur.” The request for review comes from Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation, whose challenge says the issue needs a determination by the Supreme Court. “Arnold Schwarzenegger is well known as having been born in Austria. If there are no means of compelling verification of a presidential candidate’s birth status, Mr. Schwarzenegger could run for, and be elected, president. … If the Libertarian Party were to nominate the late Ayn Rand as their candidate for president, could she be removed from the ballot on the grounds that she is not a natural born citizen of the United States?” his case argues.

• • Jew-killing jihadist now a hero
Expect more abject depravity, moral decay and the exaltation of the savage as the West continues to submit to and appease Islamic supremacism. Ayn Rand said: “The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it.” We’re seeing that vividly in the wake of Merah’s jihad massacre.

• • Defending The West: Stop Apologizing and Start Carpet-Bombing!
Individual Rights  | As Ayn Rand noted, “It took centuries of intellectual, philosophical development to achieve political freedom. It was a long struggle, stretching from Aristotle to John Locke to the Founding Fathers. The system they established was not based on unlimited majority rule, but on its opposite: on individual rights, which were not to be alienated by majority vote or minority plotting. The individual was not left at the mercy of his neighbors or his leaders: the constitutional system of checks and balances was scientifically devised to protect him from both. This was the great American achievement – and if concern for the actual welfare of other nations were our present leaders’ motive, this is what we should have been teaching the world.” Yes

• • The Republican most likely to re-elect Obama
As Ayn Rand observed of the triumph of Russian bolshevism in 1917, when given the choice between socialist Kerensky and Marxist Lenin – the Russians asked, “Why not the real thing?”

• • Shariah invasion can be ignored no more
[Pamela] Geller begins [her book, Stop the Islamization of America] with the famous dictum from Ayn Rand that one can choose to avoid reality, but one cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality. What a beautiful cup of cold water in the face!

• • Will you allow this evil to scourge your personal life?
“Each and every one of us is a general in this war,” says Pamela Geller, author of “Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance.” [....] As far as what to do specifically, Geller suggests: Be proud and unabashed in your love of country. Know your Constitution and read The Federalist Papers. Read anything by Ayn Rand that you can get your hands on.

Home free on Facebook? Think again
A potential Facebook friend’s page could be in French or Polish, but if it sports icons of Murray Rothbard, Ayn Rand, Ludwig von Mises, Frederick Bastiat, Lysander Spooner, Ron Paul, Henry Hazlitt, Walter Williams – libertarian heroes all – then he’s a fit for me. The “libertarian” handle will almost always prompt a click to “Accept Friendship.”

• • Libertarianism lite
Personally, I believe in the paramountcy of privacy. If "civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy," in Ayn Rand's magnificent words, then sexual exhibitionism – homosexual, heterosexual, gender-bender and other – is anathema. The heroic and creative inner struggle is what brings out the best in man.

• • • Is escaping America immoral?
Atlas Shrugged movie  |Atlas Shrugged  |Capitalism  | Is [...] withdrawal (as considered by the capitalists in “Atlas Shrugged” and Americans today) immoral? When American automakers refused to listen to engineers’ input on trends in auto making in the 1960s, they went to Japan and lent their skills to that nation’s emerging auto industry. Was that immoral? The uber-patriot might think so, but in the end, this taught the U.S. auto industry a lesson it desperately needed to learn.

• • Who follows God-focused logic of America’s founding?
Atheism  |Capitalism  | On my blog I’m presently featuring a one-minute video of an interview that arrestingly verifies Ayn Rand’s deep-seated hostility to God and religion. It also points out the incongruity involved when allegedly conservative Republicans burble enthusiastically about her “free enterprise” philosophy. The forces that dominate the GOP revel in the Godless materialism Rand professes. That’s why they are so intent on pushing to the back burner (or off the stove) issues that harken back to the moral understanding of the American Founding. They do so because such issues demand answers that respect God-ordained natural right and laws crafted to respect God’s justice.

• • Judgment Day for Obama?
The big problem Republicans now face is how to find and nominate a candidate who believes, deep down in his/her heart, in Ayn Rand’s tenet: “Judge, and prepare to be judged.”

• • The perils of a ‘soft landing’
Atlas Shrugged  | At some point, [...] producers will escape to Galt’s Gulch. It may not be a physical place, as in Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged,” but, one by one, they will stop producing. And if things get too bad, many will simply expatriate.
