• I salute Lady THATCHER - Shoreditch’s SILICON GODMOTHER
As you know I draw my personal, spiritual and business philosophy from two figures: Ayn Rand, and the His Holiness the Dalai Lama. So where exactly, does Margaret Hilda Roberts fit into my Weltanschauung?

• Bong Broadcasting Corporation. Let ME replace Entwistle
Why should people pay an antiquated tax when everything on the internet is free, man? And I quite agree. It's a collectivist relic that my heroine Ayn Rand would not spare. Face it guys, The License Fee has had a good run, but it's time to move on.

• Wales: Let's ban Gibraltar-crazy Wikipedians for 5 years
A fascinating Salon article this week asks: “Is Wikipedia Going Commercial?” But it already is; there’s a black market in editing Wikipedia articles. Wikipedia is important and influential, and the market has simply fulfilling a need. But it’s a black market - and as with the black market in (say) drugs, people prefer to pretend it isn’t there. Surely the Ayn Rand objectivist in [Jimmy] Wales would welcome turning this black market into a legitimate one?

• My part in the GREATEST IPO SUCCESS of ALL TIME
The Paradox Funnel is a well-kept secret, but I'll share it with you. It's my own synthesis of wisdom that I have learned from patient study of Sun Tzu, who wrote The Art of War, our spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, and the brilliant guy from the Ayn Rand Corporation who started the Vietnam War, Robert McNamara.

• Fingerprint scans learn to spot chopped-off fingers
Atlas Shrugged |
As for that zombie you saw shambling down the street with a copy of the Communist Manifesto in one hand and Atlas Shrugged in the other: blood isn’t pumping any more, so there’s none in the capillaries to squeeze out; and without blanching, the characteristic changes in colour absorption won’t be observed.

• MicroSkype: Andreessen settles accounts with Ballmer
The VCs and Wall St money men who brokered the [Microsoft/Sykpe] deal, now feted as Ayn-Rand-style supermen, somehow managed to convince the chief executive of the world’s largest software company to pay more than twice what was considered the “value” of the firm just a couple a years ago.

• Don’t blame Willy the Mailboy for software security flaws
Atlas Shrugged |
[In] the Dilbert book Bring Me the Head of Willy the Mailboy [....] no one wants to take responsibility, so the blame is passed down through the ranks in an Ayn Rand-ian shoulder shrug, until the atomic unit in the trenches (the programmer) is reached.

• Windows 7: MS plays a Jedi mind trick on netbook owners
Microsoft does [...] plan to compete against Oracle in the market for massive, mainframe-like database appliances - so, rest assured, there is some red-blooded, meat-eating competition ahead for all you Ayn Rand types.

•Wikipedia founder ‘shot by friend of Siegenthaler’
Satirical article on Jimmy Wales, founder of the online encyclopedia.
A long time devotee of Ayn Rand, Wales recently criticized the decision to grant federal funds to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, according to reports on a web discussion board.

•Wikipedia founder admits to serious quality problems
Wikipedia has enjoyed a charmed life, with many of the feature articles about the five-year old project resembling advertisements. Emphasis is placed on the knowledgeable articles (by any yardstick, it's excellent for Klingon, BSD Unix, and Ayn Rand), the breadth of its entries (Klingon again), and process issues such as speed.

•‘Sims school’ abandons books for laptops
Reporting on a plan in one Tucson, AZ high school to replace textbooks with internet access.
With only internet resources such as Wikipedia available to Tuscson's pupils, they should be able to emerge blinking into the adult world with a round knowledge of everything from Ayn Rand to the Klingon grammar.
